En el Mundo del Modernismo: Las Voces y Visiones de las Mujeres en la Poesía Hispánica
The goal of this assignment was to analyze pieces of Spanish literature and focus on the important themes involved, understand the language used in the literature and obtain a deeper understanding on the cultural significance. The paper allowed me to understand the importance of Spanish literature within the Spanish culture and explore how historical contexts significantly influenced the written literature as well. Through writing this paper, I was able to better understand how Spanish writers used creative writing to reflect their stories or social contexts as well. I also was able to increase my knowledge of making connections between the literature and historical events that are important to Spanish culture as I was able to interpret the literature texts more clearly. Lastly, his assignment contributed to my interests in Spanish and international health as it allowed me to gain an appreciation for how language and literature interconnect in Spanish speaking societies and also understand cultural identities more.

Rompiendo el Silencio: Una inmersión profunda en los determinantes sociales de los problemas de salud mental en las comunidades Latinas de los Estados Unidos a través de una revisión de la literatura y con un enfoque socio ecológico
The goal of this scientific paper was to investigate the social determinants of mental health within the Latino communities in the United States using a socio-ecological approach. Throughout this writing process, I was able to enhance my research skills through a comprehensive literature review and I learned how to apply a socio-ecological model to real world health issues. Additionally, I was able to better understand how social, economic, and cultural factors significantly influence mental health outcomes. The ability to analyze health disparities from a socio-ecological perspective can be applied to future research projects that focus on public health or community outreach. This writing assignment also aligned with my passion for learning about health issues and inequities in underserved communities, particularly Latino communities. The paper allowed me to gather more insight into the unique challenges faced by Latino populations which correlates to my academic and career goals as well.
